Green Dream with 7IM’s Camilla Ritchie: Be aware of your ethical funds’ exclusions

Lawrence Gosling chats with 7IM's Camilla Ritchie

In this episode of the Green Dream, the video series where we interview key figureheads in the responsible investment world to get their views on the latest trends, news and movements in this evolving landscape, Lawrence Gosling, editorial director at ESG Clarity’s parent firm Bonhill, interviews 7IM’s investment manager Camilla Ritchie

The pair discuss the importance of ethical investing to clients, and how they should ensure they are not exposed to sectors they don’t want to be.

Online gambling is one the exclusions in the portfolios Ritchie runs as she explains how a free £5 bet for someone could lead an extreme addiction resulting in loss of jobs, families and even lives.

She also describes some shocking stats around the production of plug sockets in the UK, wastage at electric power stations and her battle of conscience between wanting to meet potential investments in their own environment and using plane travel to get there as well as her own car usage.
