Russell Waite

Director, Investments at Affinity Private Wealth

Russell was recently awarded the Sustainable Investment Professional Certification, by Concordia University, Canada. He has direct responsibility for building and implementing the investment strategies available to clients of Affinity. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, Russell was formerly Head of Investments for a private bank, where he worked for 11 years, and prior to this was an Assistant Director at SG Hambros. He moved to Jersey in 1991, having completed a Lloyds Bank graduate training programme, and worked for the bank developing their client base in the UK, Europe and southern Africa. Russell is an ocean lover and a firm believer corporate citizenship will prove an effective force in addressing global inequality.

Abigail Herron

Global Head of Responsible Investment at Aviva Investors

Abigail leads responsible investment engagement across all asset classes and markets at Aviva Investors. She compliments this work and public policy advocacy in the UK, EU, OECD and UN on a spectrum of issues relating to sustainable finance. She has a special interest in the defence and security response to climate change and leads the implementation of the Aviva strategic response to climate change. She is the co-founder of the Superbugs and Super Risks series of reports on antibiotic resistance.

Abigail sits on the UKSIF Leadership Committee, the 30% Club Investor’s Steering Committee, ICAEW Corporate Governance Committee, is a technical advisor to the Zoological Society of London’s palm oil and forestry group, an advisor to the new FishTracker initiative & a Trustee of the Chartered Secretaries’ Charitable Trust. She is also a judge for the ICSA and IR Europe awards, an advisor at Reputation Consultancy.

Susanne Bolin Gärtner

Head of fund selection and ESG at Folksam

Susanne has been Head of fund selection at Folksam, since 2009. She also holds a position as Head of product and business development for unit-linked insurance at Folksam Fondforsakring. Susanne has previously worked for various employers in senior positions within bank and insurance companies. She is Folksam’s representative in Swesif (the equivalent of Eurosif in Sweden) and also a member of the Swedish Society of Financial Analysts (SFF).

Hardik Shah

Hardik Shah

ESG Practice Lead at GMO

Hardik leads the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practice at GMO and is responsible for building GMO’s ESG capability across investment product areas. Prior to joining GMO in 2017, he led a global team of analysts focused on ESG ratings and thematic research at Sustainalytics. Previously, he was an ESG Ratings associate at MSCI and, as a senior climate change consultant with Ernst & Young, has helped register a wide variety of projects with the UNFCCC under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) defined in the Kyoto Protocol.

Hardik regularly speaks at sustainability themed events across Asia on topics such as the importance of corporate sustainability practices and the business case for ESG integration across asset classes. In 2015 and 2016, he was voted #1 research firm analyst who understands the challenges & opportunities facing companies in the Independent Research in Responsible Investment (IRRI) Survey.

He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics from University of Mumbai and holds a post-graduate diploma in management (Finance) from We School. Hardik holds the Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) credential issued by SASB and also the CFA charter.

Andrew Parry

Andrew Parry

Head of sustainable investing at Hermes Investment Management

Andrew Parry is Head of Sustainable Investing and a member of the Hermes Strategy Group. He joined the firm in 2009, initially as Chief Executive and Co-Head of Investment for Hermes Sourcecap, now Hermes European Equities, becoming Head of Equities in 2014. In 2006, Andrew jointly founded Sourcecap with the aim of building a best-in-class investment boutique focused on excellence in European equity management.

Prior to this, Andrew established Pembroke Capital Management in 2003 and successfully launched the Magenta Fund, a global equity non-directional fund. Before that, Andrew worked at Northern Trust Global Investments (Europe) Ltd as Chief Investment Officer of International Equities and was responsible for the management of global, international and regional portfolios. He has also held a variety of senior investment roles, including Head of International Equities at Julius Baer Investments, Chief Investment Officer at Lazard Brothers Asset Management, and Head of UK Equities at Baring Asset Management.

Andrew holds an MA in Mathematics from the University of St Andrews. Andrew is a member of the Investment Committee of the Trafalgar House Pension Trust and a non-equity director of Aerion Fund Managers. He was formerly an independent investment advisor to the Investment Sub-Committee of the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme.

Reinhilde Weidacher

Managing Director, Head of research at ISS-Ethix

Reinhilde serves as Head of Global Research & Products at ISS-Ethix. Ms. Weidacher joined Ethix SRI Advisors in 2003 and has over the past ten years worked closely with institutional investors across Europe to develop and implement solutions for sustainable and responsible investment. She is also an expert in the area of arms trade and violent conflicts.

She has worked as an independent consultant on arms and peace related issues for international NGOs and research organizations, including the Swedish Defence Research Agency and the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey. She also researched the global military industry for six years at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). She holds a Laurea in political science from Bologna University, Italy, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Sciences from Stockholm University.

Hortense Bioy

Director of passive strategies and ESG research, Europe at Morningstar

Hortense leads the team providing independent research on ETFs and index funds domiciled in Europe for Morningstar. Since 2016, her responsibilities have expanded to include sustainable fund research in the UK. She joined Morningstar as an equity ETF analyst in 2010 from Bloomberg, where she was a financial journalist. She began her career as an M&A analyst at Société Générale in Hong Kong. Morningstar passive research, under Hortense, won the category of ‘Best thought leadership paper’ at the Investment Week Fund Services Awards 2015, ‘Best ETF research’ at the Investment Week Investment Research Awards 2017 and ‘Best ETF research provider’ at the ETF Express Awards 2017.

Martina Macpherson

Martina Macpherson

President at Network for Sustainable Financial Markets

Martina heads ESG risk management at IHS Towers, one of the leading global telecom infrastructure companies. She is also the President of the Network for Sustainable Financial Markets and visiting fellow at Henley Business School and a guest lecturer at University of Zurich. She is a writer and presenter on sustainable investment and green finance themes and contributes regularly to industry and academic publications.

She is a former chair of the NED board at the Global Thinkers Forum. She also sits on UKSIF’s analyst committee board, Sedex’ Advisory Committee, is a member of WE – Women in ETF, and acted as an observer at ICMA – The Green Bond Principles. In addition, she is a member of the Institute of Directors, an affiliate member of ICSA: The Governance Institute and an alumni fellow of the German National Academic Foundation.

In 2014, Martina founded her own ESG strategy consulting firm, SI Partners, an independent consulting firm specializing in Climate Risk and ESG / SDG advisory, research, products, investment content, and engagement services. She has held a range of senior global research, product and business development roles for more than 17 years. Most recently, she was head of ESG indices at S&P Dow Jones Indices and led the development of ESG assessments for S&P Global Ratings, the world’s leading credit rating agency.

As an Investment Manager and CF30, Andrew’s role encompasses all aspects of portfolio management, fund selection and asset allocation. Additional responsibilities include portfolio analysis, risk profiling, marketing, operational support, sales support, dealing, website maintenance and attendance at numerous events and committees.

He is tasked with developing and managing a wide range of investment solutions and has a particular passion for enhancing Parmenion’s Ethical portfolio range and supporting literature.  Andrew has a degree in Economics from the University of York and is a CFA Charterholder with 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry, having spent the last 7 years in investments working with Rathbone Greenbank initially before joining Parmenion in November 2010.

Andrew was awarded a position in the Wealth Manager Top 100 2017, which recognises the most influential people in fund selection across the private client industry.  Andrew is also part of Citywire’s exclusive class of rising wealth talent, having been awarded a position in their annual Top 30 Under 30 league for 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Shila oversees Sustainalytics’ Advisory Services in the United States. She is a trusted and experienced advisor that works closely with Sustainalytics’ platinum-level US and global clients to help them integrate ESG and corporate governance research and data into their investment processes.

Shila is the primary relationship manager for Morningstar, supporting them on integrating Sustainalytics’ data into their various research platforms. She also plays an instrumental role in the enhancement and development of Sustainalytics’ strategic relationships with our passive investment clients as well as Factset and Bloomberg.

Outside of her work at Sustainalytics, Shila is part of the Agenda Committee for the SRI Conference. She helps shape the content for the SRI annual conference which attracts investors, corporates and policy-makers from across the US. Shila has over 10 years of experience in business development within the index industry. Prior to joining Sustainalytics she worked for FTSE Group as well as Russell Investments.

Head of sustainable investing advisory, Asia-Pacific at UBS Wealth Management

Mario Knoepfel has been heading the Sustainable Investing Advisory for Asia-Pacific since January 2015. Working for UBS Wealth Management since 2001, Mario relocated to Hong Kong in early 2013 to establish the Hong Kong presence of the UBS Optimus Foundation, a professional grant-making foundation that helps UBS clients in funding and managing projects benefitting underprivileged children around the world.

Prior, he worked for UBS Wealth Management in different positions in Zurich and Moscow with a strong focus on advising the bank’s ultra-high-net-worth clients and developing this client segment strategically.

Mario holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration with a Major in Banking and Finance from Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland.
