Former State Street ESG research head Dr Todd Arthur Bridges and tech supremo Dr Manuel Piñuela have joined Arabesque S-Ray as the firm enters the next phase of its ambitious expansion plans.

The two new hires are part the ESG data provider’s global growth plans and follows its multi-million dollar investment from four of Germany’s leading financial institutions.

ESG Clarity reported last July that Allianz X, Commerz Real, DWS, and German federal state Land Hessen had co-invested $20m to aid Arabesque S-Ray’s development of new ESG data products, including its AI-based S-Ray Real Estate service.

Arabesque has made waves in the sustainable investment industry for its approach to ESG analytics and is widely regarded as a market leader with its ability to assess the sustainability performance of over 7,200 companies globally.

Dr Arthur Bridges joins the company as global head of sustainable investing and ESG research, with Dr Manuel Piñuela appointed as chief technology officer. Both have also been appointed partners of the firm.

“Both Dr Bridges and Dr Piñuela bring with them a vast amount of experience in ESG research and technology,” Andreas Feiner, CEO of Arabesque S-Ray GmbH said.

“I am delighted to welcome them both to the company as we scale up our team, and combine technology and data to create innovative ESG products and services that meet the growing global demand for sustainability,” Feiner added.

Dr Bridges was previously head of ESG research and development at State Street Global Advisors, and has also held the position of research managing director at Cornell University.

“I am thrilled to join Arabesque S-Ray at a time when demand from investors for ESG data and investment strategies has never been greater, and look forward to working with the team to design and build innovative new solutions that enable sustainable asset allocations,” Dr Arthur commented.

Dr Piñuela is a technology and science entrepreneur, MIT technology review inventor and 2017 Innovator of the Year. He is also co-founder of Cultivo, Coyo Partners and Drayson Technologies Group, and serves multiple boards as an executive and non-executive director.

“Advancements in technology are enabling all stakeholders to implement sustainability at a faster rate than ever before,” Dr Piñuela said.

“I am delighted to join Arabesque S-Ray and support the firm’s rapid global growth, and look forward to helping create new products that accelerate the transition to a sustainable world,” Piñuela added.
