HKMA partners with CFA Institute for ESG qualification

The course is designed to meet local and international demand in the investment industry

The Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) and the CFA Institute are collaborating to launch a professional certificate programme in global ESG investing.

The official syllabus and course materials of the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing, which are recognised by the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), will be adopted in this new programme to help students prepare for the new certificate. It will be under the HKMA Global Centre for ESG Education and Research (GC-ESG).

“Talents with ESG-related knowledge and skillsets are extremely sought-after now, both locally and internationally,” said Titania Woo, executive director of the HKMA, in a statement.

The HKMA, which was set up in 1960 as a non-profit organisation, is offering the professional certificate programme in global ESG investing to equip professionals with comprehensive knowledge on ESG investing and related international standards.

Indicative topics include:

  • Introduction to ESG
  • The ESG market
  • Environmental factors
  • Social factors
  • Governance factors
  • Engagement and stewardship
  • ESG analysis, valuation, and integration
  • ESG integrated portfolio construction and management
