Investment consultancy Aon has announced the appointment of a new principal to its UK-based Responsible Investment team.

Geri McMahon joins the investment practice of the firm as part of the group’s return-to-work programme, which identifies talented, experienced, staff returning to the industry after a career break.

“The level of activity within the Responsible Investment team has meant that I have had the chance to be actively involved in working with clients from day one of joining Aon,” McMahon said in a statement.

“Having joined the firm after a career break and via its Returnship Programme, it’s been the ideal way to fit back into the day to day action of the investment industry and to engage fully with our clients and their needs.”

Prior to her career break, McMahon was a vice president in fixed income trading with Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London, having previously worked for group in Australia. Prior to this, she worked for three years for Royal Bank of Scotland and for PwC before that.

“Geri McMahon’s arrival has had a huge impact,” explained Tim Manuel, head of Responsible Investment (UK) at Aon. “Geri’s knowledge and enthusiasm are already making an impact with our work in Responsible Investment.”

Manuel explained that the company was witnessing “a surge in demand” from its clients for responsible investment initiatives.

He added: “She is a great example of the potential for Aon’s Returnship Programme. As a business we are keen to attract and retain the most talented people, and we look for innovative ways to do this.”
