Principles for Responsible Investment – the UN-backed organisation championing sustainable investment approaches – is seeking asset owners to join its advisory committee.

The body announced on Thursday that it is looking for volunteers to join its asset owner advisory committee and called for interested parties to make themselves known by 10 August 2018.

The PRI recommended those asset owners who are interested should read the terms of reference on the PRI website prior to their application and contact Catherine Chen with expressions of interest. Further details are available here.

In a statement announcing the search, a spokesperson said that asset owners played a particularly “crucial role in accelerating responsible investment throughout the PRI’s signatory base and beyond.”

The spokesperson explained that the PRI’s advisory committees provide opportunities for signatories to convene, share knowledge and collaborate on responsible investment on a quarterly basis.

One of the PRI’s asset manager signatories, Neuberger Berman, endorsed the values of the PRI in a separate statement, following a strong performance in the most recent PRI assessment report of ESG integration efforts for 2017.

In the statement, the company said that it had been a signatory to the PRI since 2012 and is a leading participant in the PRI-supported Climate Action 100+.

Jonathan Bailey, head of ESG at Neuberger Berman, said: “Neuberger Berman believes that material ESG characteristics are an important driver of long-term investment returns from both an opportunity and a risk-mitigation perspective.

“We understand that for many of our clients the impact of their portfolio is an important consideration in conjunction with investment performance.”
