Green Dream with Wellian’s Philbin: Lack of clarity in sustainable investing could hold it back

In this episode of the Green Dream Lawrence Gosling chats with Richard Philbin on the varied ESG messaging and living in a 'throwaway society'

In this episode of the Green Dream, the video series where we interview key figureheads in the responsible investment world to get their views on the latest trends, news and movements in this evolving landscape, Lawrence Gosling, editorial director at ESG Clarity’s parent firm Bonhill, interviews Wellian Investment Solutions’ Richard Philbin

The CIO discusses how sustainable investing has moved to “front of house” in the asset management industry over the past five years, but is concerned the lack of consistency and clarity in definitions and messaging could hold it back.

He also explores the question marks around investing in oil majors from a responsible investment point of view, highlighting some of these companies are embracing a sustainable future.

Philbin also comments on the growing realisation that we are living in a “throwaway society with finite resources”, while also shares his own ‘green dream’.
