Former Sanlam fund selector Paris Jordan has launched an ethical investing network for professional investors to debate and learn about ESG issues.

Jordan, who left Sanlam last month for fund buyer matchmaking service Murano, has teamed up with Carmignac business development manager Sophia Sednaoui, to launch Virtuvest that aims to connect investors through events, weekly newsletters and roundtables.

A statement announcing the launch said: “Members with an interest in ethical investing will share their expertise, connect with like-minded individuals, and contribute to the evolution of ethical investment approaches.”

It added the aim was to “further the importance, understanding, and role of sustainable investing within the investment management industry”.

The group is open to asset allocators, financial advisers and individuals with a passion for ethical investing.

Jordan said ethical investing is being taken more seriously by the investment industry after sustainable and ethical funds held up well through the Covid-19 crisis.

“Sophia and I have always been passionate about ethical investing, having actively supported it over the years, and there seemed no better time to launch a network for investors that equally share our passion,” she added.

Sednaoui said: “While there is plenty of information available for the retail market, and for the asset managers, we also noticed there is a lack of opportunity for fund buyers and sophisticated investors to share their expertise with their peers; even though it is these individuals who could have the greatest impact on moving the industry forward.”
