James d’Ath, founder of Sustainix, has joined Edison has director of ESG.

D’Ath has nearly three decades of investment experience working at Barclays Wealth, ING and ICAP, and more recently as head of product management at AJ Bell Investments.

He founded research and analytics consultancy firm Sustainix in 2016 to support financial firms in integrating ESG investment principles as well as, more recently, how to navigate the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) guidance.

In 2019, he was commissioned by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI) to conduct a terminal review of the Natural Capital Finance Alliance (NCFA) Advancing Environmental Risk Management project, an initiative to explore natural capital impacts and dependencies.

At Edison, he will lead the firm’s ESG solutions and be a point of contact for all matters relating to ESG, such as product and business development, product strategy and communications.

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining Edison as it enters this new and exciting stage in its development as a firm. With sustainability issues now high on the agenda of many corporates and financial institutions from both a risk assessment and disclosure perspective, I relish the opportunity to drive Edison’s enhanced service offering to its wide client base as they navigate this increasingly challenging yet critical time.”

Fraser Thorne, CEO of Edison, added: “We are delighted to welcome James to Edison as we continue to bolster our business-critical ESG offering. An expert in the field, James’ extensive experience across finance and sustainability will ensure we continue to enhance our growing ESG solutions services in line with unprecedented demand from the industry.”
