Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has hired two responsible investment analysts as part of a plan to grow its ESG team by the end of the year.

Carlota Garcia-Manas (pictured left) and Beth Goldsmith joined the team this week reporting to head of responsible investment Ashley Hamilton Claxton.

Garcia-Manas has joined as a senior responsible analyst. She previously spent three years at the Church of England Investing Bodies running high profile corporate engagements focused on climate change, international corporate tax and board diversity.

Before that, she was director of products and services at Datamaran, a start-up software developer for sustainability benchmarking, and head of research at EIRIS, now Moody’s, where she led global ESG research and product development.

Goldsmith has joined as a responsible analyst assisting fund managers in researching and analysing environmental and social issues. She joined from KPMG where she spent five years in the sustainability and responsible investment team. She has experience advising large and medium sized companies on managing environmental and social risks.

RLAM’s responsible investment team now has five people and Portfolio Adviser understands the firm is expecting to hire more individuals later this year.

Hamilton Claxton said: “The appointments of Carlota and Beth come at a time when climate change and environmental and social issues are taking centre stage in the news and becoming a priority focus on political agendas. They are also more frequently becoming core factors in investment decision making for many investors, retail and institutional alike.”
